Welcome to my website!
I have been an artist most of my life. Starting at a young age living in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, drawing and painting became a passion for me. Even though I have little formal training, I have been determined to learn various techniques through trial and error; failing and succeeding; following other artists I love; reading articles and just by trusting in my own instincts.
I have, over the past 20 years, used pencil and charcoal as my medium creating very realistic art pieces. I have also published three limited edition prints in pencil “High Browns”, “Proudly Canadian” and “Parade Ready”.
I have created numerous commissioned works for a variety of clients in both pencil and acrylic mediums.
My acrylic paintings are a looser, less rule based style that I will call “Abstract Realism”. As opposed to the grayscale of pencil and charcoal, I now work in bright vibrant opaque acrylics. I love working with subjects like architecture, nature and landscape. I am ever inspired by the connection and visual impact of two or more items in a scene. Such as the forest and a boardwalk represented in the painting “Paradise Meadows Boardwalk”.
My art style is to work on delineating the colours that a certain subject provides. It is a way to see colors as you do not see them naturally with the eye. As the photographer Platon has stated….”stripping the unnecessary away so that you only see what is necessary”.
I trust that you ended up on my website because you either know me or have seen my work. I hope that by being here you have a little more insight as to who I am as an artist. I also hope that I have inspired you!
So, again, Welcome! Enjoy! I am happy you came for a visit and please feel free to visit again in the future as more works are created!
